Jonathan Metzger

Staff Sgt. Jonathan M. Metzger, age 32, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died on January 6, 2012, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 81st Troop Command, Indiana National Guard, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jonathan was known as "Biggin" to his friends. This is a nickname he picked up in high school when he was a national weightlifting champion.

Light a candle for Jonathan.
Light his way to Heaven.
Jonathan was a career military man who spent eight years in the Marine Corps. He planned on a continued military career and was studying for the rank of master sergeant. He was on his second deployment, having served a year in Iraq, and was six weeks into a nine-month tour in Afghanistan.

Loved ones describe him as a hero, who was committed to serving the military and his country. They also stated that he loved his family and his wife.

Jonathan is survived by many loving friends and family members including his wife.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Jonathan Metzger is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
