Samuel Griffith

Major Samuel M. Griffith, age 36, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died on December 14, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to 4th Air-Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, Marine Forces Reserve, West Palm Beach, Florida.

Samuel graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in science. He was commissioned into the Marine Corps in 1997 and flew F-18s. About two years ago, he became an inactive reservist in the Forward Air Control Unit for 4th Anglico. He was on his third tour of duty and his second in Afghanistan.

Light a candle for Samuel.
Light his way to Heaven.
Family members describe Samuel as kind, considerate, compassionate, with a great sense of humor. He is also described as an honest, decent, hard-working man who loved his family, his God, and the Marine Corps.

Military officials describe him as a very dedicated Marine and a family man.

Samuel is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, William Griffith; his mother, Kathleen Bischoff; his wife, Cassandra and their two sons Chad and Noah.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Samuel M. Griffith is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
