Nonsense of Religion

I have written previously about the "Tragedy of Religion", which is self-explanatory.

Brothers, let us pray and
fight each other
in the name of Christ?
Today, I would like to write about the Nonsense of Religion, which is also self-explanatory.

On December 28, 2011, a fight broke out at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Priests and Monks were cleaning the church in preparation for Orthodox Christmas, when a battle over "turf" erupted between Armenian and Greek Orthodox factions.

About 100 priests and monks hurled brooms at each other during the melee which was broken up by Palestinian Police.

The Church of the Nativity is believed to be built over the birthplace of Jesus.

Ultra Orthodox Jews in Israel are accosting Jewish women on the street and calling them "filth" because they believe that these women are inappropriately dressed.

Members of the Islamic Sunni faction are killing Shi'ite Muslims and Shi'ites are blowing up Sunnis.

And now Christian clergymen....can't even agree on a way of sweeping out the Church of the Nativity. As if sweeping a floor was an earth-shaking event and a matter of debate.

All of this is too nonsensical to comprehend. It is beyond understanding in this modern day and age.

God save us from our clergymen, regardless of what religion they belong to. God save us from the Ultra-Conservatives.  God save us from the fanatics. They can lead us away from the Father and into pain.

God help us all. Amen
