Deputy Sheriff Matt Miller, age 53, died in the line of duty on December 26, 2011, in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Matt was a member of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. He had 24 years of service with the Department.  He had previously served with the Longwood Police Department for three years.

Matt was known as "Sid" to many of his friends.

Michael, Archangel, Patron
Saint of the Police, pray for Matt
Matt was killed in a motorcycle accident while attempting to make a traffic stop. He had activated his emergency equipment and was attempting to catch up to a speeding vehicle when the driver of a car made a left hand turn in front of him, causing a collision. Deputy Miller was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police officials describe Matt as one of the more highly skilled motor officers and deputies that they have. They also describe Matt as a family member to his fellow officers.

Friends describe Matt as a humble and selfless man, who was well liked in his community.

Matt is survived by many loving friends and family members including his wife and his brother.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Matt Miller is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
