He was a member of the Atchison Police Department. He had 24 years of service.

David was assisting a code enforcement officer serve a nuisance order at a home in Atchison, at about 4:00 p.m. A 25 year old man appeared out of nowhere and opened fire without warning, killing Sergeant Enzbrenner. The man then committed suicide.
David is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Kerri and their three daughters.
Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that David Enzbrenner is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
