Sheldon Steel

British Rifleman Sheldon Steel, age 20, of Bramley, England, died on November 27, 2011, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device, while on foot patrol. 

Sheldon was a member of the 5th Battalion The Rifles.

He joined the Army in November 2009. He had been in Afghanistan just over a month, his unit having been deployed in October.

Family members describe Sheldon as loving, caring and affectionate with his family. They stated that he loved being in the Army. They also stated that he had a good sense of humour and a big heart.

Military officials describe Sheldon as a skilled, robust and intelligent soldier and that he was an excellent marksman. They stated that they were proud to serve with him. 

Sheldon is survived by numerous loving friends and relatives including his mother, Victoria, his brother Kameron and his sisters Carys and Cody. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Sheldon Steel is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
