Adam Buyes

Cpl. Adam J. Buyes, age 21, of Salem, Oregon, died on November 26, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan.

Adam was a 2008 graduate of McKay High School, where he participated in track and field and football.

High School officials describe Adam as loved by his peers and his teachers. They also stated he had high morals and was a hard worker. 

Adam joined the Marines Corps on January 12, 2009. He arrived on Okinawa Sept. 10, 2009 and deployed to Afghanistan in May.

His service awards include the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Korean Defense Service Medal.

Military officials describe Adam as a dedicated professional and also stated that he cared for his fellow Marines as if they were his brothers.

Adam is survived by numerous loving friends and relatives including his parents and his brother, Joshua. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Adam J. Buyes is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
