Insurgents attacked Afghan Troops who were in the company of Spanish military advisors. Joaquin was shot in the chest.
Joaquin was from Cordoba.
Military officials describe Joaquin as a brave man, who died in the service of Spain. They also stated that he was well liked by his comrades and was friendly to them all.

He has been awarded the Military Cross of Merit, the highest honor for those who die in battle.
Joaquin is survived by many loving friends and family members including his parents, his two younger siblings, his son and his girlfriend.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Joaquin Moya Espejo is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
