Cody R. Norris

Pfc. Cody R. Norris, age 20, of Houston, Texas, died on November 9, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas.

Cody graduated from La Porte High School in 2010. This was his first deployment.

His awards include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, the NATO medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.

Friends describe him as a fun-loving prankster with a strong sense of duty.

Cody is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Reese Norris, mother Terri Vegil-Norris, and older brother, Michael Norris. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Cody R. Norris is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
