Nicholas A. Sprovtsoff


Staff Sgt. Nicholas A. Sprovtsoff, age 28, of Davison, Michigan, died on September 28, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, Camp Pendleton, California. 

Nicholas Sprovtsoff graduated in 2001 from Davison High School. High school officials describe him as a great kid who always talked about wanting to be a Marine. He is also described as a good sport and respectful.

Family members stated that Nicholas was really committed to his nation and the people.

As a 10-year veteran of the Marine Corps, Nicholas joined MARSOC in November 2008 and served as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. He attended Amphibious Assault Vehicle Crewman School in Camp Pendleton in 2002, and was assigned as an AAV crewman for his first six years before attending the EOD course in 2009. He graduated from the Basic Reconnaissance Course in 2010. Nicholas was deployed in support of both Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

His personal decorations include a Bronze Star with combat V, Army Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal with combat V, Army Achievement Medal, two Combat Action Ribbons and two Good Conduct Medals.

Nicholas is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Sandee; and his wife, Tasha, and a daughter, Lanie.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Nicholas A. Sprovtsoff is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
