Capt. Joshua S. Lawrence, age 29, of Nashville, Tennessee, died on October 8, 2011, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with a rocket propelled grenade.
He was assigned to the1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Joshua graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in 2000.

He entered the Army in 2005, and joined the unit in May 2011. This was his first tour overseas.
He had received the following awards during his time in the Army: Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Korea Defense Service Medal.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Joshua S. Lawrence is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
