Caleb A. Nelson

Petty Officer 1st Class (SEAL) Caleb A. Nelson, age 26, of Omaha, Nebraska, died on October 1, 2011, after his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device while conducting a combat patrol in Zabul province, Afghanistan.

Caleb Nelson was assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit, Norfolk, Virginia. 

He enlisted in the Navy in August 2005 and began his special warfare training in May 2006. He was assigned to the East Coast-based SEAL unit in December 2006. He deployed to Iraq in 2009, and then to Afghanistan in March. 

His awards and decorations include a Bronze Star with Valor, the Purple Heart, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Jesus, pray for Caleb

Military officials stated that Caleb was a cherished teammate, a gifted SEAL operator and a loving husband and father.

Caleb is survived by many loving friends and family members including his parents and his wife and two sons.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Caleb A. Nelson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
