First Sgt. Billy J. Siercks, age 32, of Velda Village, Missiouri, died on September 28, 2011, in Landstuhl, Germany, of wounds suffered Sept. 27 in Logar, Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit using indirect fire.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.

Billy was born and raised in Lincoln, Missouri and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1997. He enlisted in the military during his senior year at Lincoln High School and eventually became part of the elite group of Army Rangers.

Father, place Billy on the
stairway to Heaven.
