Pfc. Tony J. Potter Jr., age 20, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, died on September 9, 2011, in Paktia, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 279 Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma National Guard, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Tony was a graduate of Okmulgee High School where he was an honors student. He joined the Oklahoma National Guard in 2010. He was promoted to Private First Class in May of 2011. This was his first deployment.
Family members describe him as smart and ambitious and a good husband to his pregnant wife, Emily. Family members also said that Tony was proud to serve his country.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Tony J. Potter Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
