Mark Toney - Law Enforcement - Iowa

Trooper Mark Toney, age 43, died on September 20, 2011, in the line of duty, near Indianola, Iowa.

He was a member of the Iowa State Patrol and had 24 years of service.

Mark was traveling northbound on US Highway 65, just south of Indianola, with his emergency lights activated. For unknown reasons, the patrol car left the roadway and then landed in a field west of the highway. Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders found the patrol car fully engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished, and Trooper Toney was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police officials stated that Mark loved his job and that he gave his life in the service of Iowans.

Mark is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents and his two sons, ages 20 and 15.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Mark Toney is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
