Barry John Weston

British Sgt. Barry John Weston, age 40, died on August 30, 2011, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, when he was struck by an improvised explosive device.

Barry was with the 42 Commando of the Royal Marines. He was known as "Baz" to his family and friends.

He joined the Royal Marines in 1991 and served in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Sierra Leone and Iraq before volunteering to deploy to Afghanistan in May on attachment to 1 Rifles Battle Group.

Family members describe Barry as a caring, loving husband and son and a devoted father.
Light a candle for Baz.  Light
his way to Heaven.

Military officials describe him as a father figure to other marines and stated that his passion for the men in his charge was obvious and he looked after their interests and welfare with a dogged determination. They also stated that Barry will be remembered for his dry, sharp sense of humour and canny ability to make light of the direst of situations.

Barry is survived by many loving relatives and friends including his wife Joanne and cherished daughters Jasmine, age 8, Poppy, age 6, and baby Rose.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Barry John Weston is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
