Frederick F. Guthrie Jr. - Law Enforcement - Missouri

Highway Patrol Trooper Fred Guthrie, age 46, of Platte City, Missouri, drowned on August 1, 2011, in Holt County, Missouri.

Pray for Fred
It is believed that Fred was swept away by flood waters, while in the line of duty. Trooper Guthrie was on river flood patrol duty when another patrol unit discovered his patrol truck idling on the road, with his patrol boat still on its trailer.

His body has not been recovered as of this posting.  His police dog, Reed, was found dead in the waters.

Trooper Guthrie had served with the Missouri State Water Patrol for 17 years until the agency was merged into the Missouri State Highway Patrol in January 2011. He was assigned to the Highway Patrol's Water Division when the incident occurred.

In 2008, Fred was awarded the state Medal of Valor for rescuing a woman who was clinging to a buoy after she had been thrown from her boat during a storm.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Fred Guthrie Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
