Matthew T. Richard

Cpl. Matthew T. Richard, age 21, of Acadia, Louisiana, died on June, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. 

He is survived by numerous loving relatives, including his parents, Jeff and Alicia.

His mother stated that his dream was always to serve in the military.  Matthew died a Corporal who had been honored several times for his committment and dedication to his country.

Matthew was a 2008 graduate of Iota High School. School officials stated "He was well respected by his teachers and he was a big football player. He was very tenacious." 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Matthew T. Richard is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
