He was assigned to the 848th Forward Surgical Team, U.S. Army Reserve, Twinsburg, Ohio.

Joshua had been serving as a registered nurse with the U.S. Army Reserve at Forward Operating Base Salerno since early March.

Joshua McClimans graduated from Jamestown Area High School in 1998. He attended Kent State University and earned his degree in nursing from the University of Akron.  He had worked as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at Summa Western Reserve Hospital, formerly Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital, in Akron from 2008 until he was activated by the Army Reserve early this year.

Medical officials stated "Serving others was a way of life for Joshua -- perfectly exemplified by his roles in service as a nurse and as a member of the reserves."

Joshua was the father of a son, Max, 7, and a stepdaughter, Emily, 12, of Akron. His former wife, Amanda McClimans, also lives in Akron.

Survivors include his father, Michael McClimans; mother, Cindy McClimans, and a sister, Crystal McClimans, both of Harlingen, Texas; a sister, Jennifer McClimans Ransom, of Jamestown; and his grandmother, Jamestown Mayor Esther McClimans.

Joshua is also survived by his girlfriend, Melissa Bulebush, who stated that "He is a hero in all our eyes."

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Joshua M. McClimans is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
