Benjamin F. Bitner

Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin F. Bitner, age 37, of Greencastle, Pa., died April 23, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. 

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Ben Bitner lived in Jackson Springs, North Carolina, with his wife, April, and sons Gunnar and Rogue. He is the son of Roger and Bev Bitner of Greencastle and was a 1991 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Benjamin Bitner is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
