U.S. Army Cpl. Rudy A. Acosta, age 19, of Canyon County, Calif., died on March 19, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he was shot with small arms fire by an individual from a military security group.

The son of Dante and Carolyn Acosta, Rudy Acosta was a 2009 graduate of Santa Clarita Christian School. He completed Army basic training Aug. 11, 2009, and was deployed to Afghanistan on June 10, 2010.

Rudy Acosta was a health care specialist and combat medic for Red Platoon, Killer Troop, 4th Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, based in Vilseck, Germany.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Rudy A. Acosta is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
