Mecolus C. McDaniel

Staff Sgt. Mecolus C. McDaniel, age 33, of Fort Hood, Texas, died March 19, 2011, in Khowst province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Knox, Ky. He was a cavalry scout. 

His military service began in July 1996 and he was posted to Fort Knox in October 2009. It was Mecolus McDaniel’s second deployment to Afghanistan as part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Mecolus C. McDaniel is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

I would like to say im praying for the family i feel like family since we are from the same home town and i grew up with his mother Joyce,from Belzoni,Ms.I know your hearts are heavy so is mine but God is still the answer and he will heal you all and ease the pain.I know you all will miss him and loved Him but God loved him more i haven't seen him since he was a little boy but alway asked a family member about him and him brother tony and all i heard was good thing about them and wht a good child he was so Carlo gone hm baby and take your rest and be with the father and son your wings are waiting love you God Bless.
