Andrew P. Carpenter

Lance Cpl. Andrew P. Carpenter, age 27, of Columbia, Tenn., died Feb. 19, 2011, of wounds received Feb. 14 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

He was shot in the neck by a sniper. His parents had to decide to disconnect him from life support. His wife was advised not to travel due to the late stage of her pregnancy.

He is survived by numerous loving relatives including his mother and father, Cindy and Kevin Carpenter and his wife, Crissie, nine-months pregnant with their first child.

Family members described Andrew as a hero who gave his life for his country and was doing what he wanted to do. 

Jesus, Mary and Joseph pray for soldiers in war. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Andrew P. Carpenter is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
