Joseph C. Whitehead

Cpl. Joseph C. Whitehead, age 22, was killed on January 17, 2011, during combat operations in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.  He identified a large IED and was protecting others from the larger one when a smaller one exploded close to him.

Joseph Whitehead was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. He enlisted in the Marines after graduating from Satsuma High School in 2007. He was about to finish up his first stretch and planned to re-enlist in August.

He was assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Joseph C. Whitehead is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

Just wanted to correct something. Joseph did not step on a landmine. He identified a large IED and was protecting others from the larger one when a smaller one exploded close to him.
