Steve Martin

Canadian Cpl. Steve Martin, age 24, from 3rd Battalion, Royal 22nd Regiment, was killed December 18, 2010, by a bomb detonated while he was on patrol in the Panjwaii district of Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Steve Martin was serving with 1st Battalion, Royal 22e Regiment Battle Group, based at CFB Valcartier, Que.  The soldier arrived in Afghanistan three weeks ago after burying his grandfather, leaving his hometown of St.-Cyrille-de-Wendover, about 10 kilometres northeast of Drummondville, Quebec.

In the small town, virtually everyone appeared to know the young soldier.  "He had two older brothers; he was the baby. They're a good family," said a neighbour.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Steve Martin is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
