Kelly J. Mixon

Spc. Kelly J. Mixon, age 23, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, was killed on Dec. 8, 2010, by someone who detonated an improvised explosive device he was wearing as a suicide vest, in the Balkh province of Afghanistan.

Kelly Mixon was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany. Kelly Mixon joined the Army two years ago, where he was trained as a sniper.

Kelly is survived by his wife, a younger brother and sister and numerous other loved ones.  He is described as a fine soldier, who loved music and who was an accomplished chef.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Kelly Mixon is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
