David M. "DJ" Jernigan

Army Spc. David Jernigan, age 22, was killed when he was struck by a car in Hawaii on September 28, 2010.   David Jernigan, a native of Zephyrhills, Fla., was assigned to the 70th Engineer Company, 65th Engineer Battalion, 130th Engineer Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, based at Schofield Barracks. 

David Jernigan had been in the Army for three years. He was deployed to Iraq from 2008 to 2009. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. 

David Jernigan is survived by a grandfather, Clarence Jernigan; a grandmother, Louise Jernigan; mother Tammy; wife Samantha; two daughters, Lena Paige Jernigan and Sara Renee Jernigan; and two brothers, Cody Strong and Jesse Strong.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that David Jernigan is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
