David Sherrard - Police Officer Fatality - Texas

Police Officer David Sherrard, age 37, died in the line of duty on February 7, 2018, at a hospital in Plano, Texas.

Officer Sherrard was a member of the Richardson Police Department, Texas. He had 13 years of service. 

Richardson is a suburb of Dallas and has a population of under 110,000. 

Just after 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding a disturbance at an apartment complex in Richardson. 

They found a man outside of the apartments who had been shot. The officers then entered the apartment where the shooter was located. He opened fire on the officers, striking David in the neck. 

David was rushed to a hospital in Plano where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. 

A male civilian was also pronounced deceased as a result of the shootings.

The shooter, Brandon McCall, age 26, barricaded himself inside the apartment for several hours before he was taken into custody. He is charged with the capital murder of a police officer. Other charges are pending.

David Sherrard grew up in Mesquite, Texas and graduated from Mesquite High School in 1999.

The members of the Richardson Police Department are in mourning over the death of their brother. 
David was a well-respected and brave member of the Department. He will be forever remembered.

David's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

David is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and two daughters.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
