Jonathan Pitre - Ottawa, Canada - Pray for his recovery

We watched a documentary on the Learning Channel today which told the story of Jonathan Pitre who lives in Ottawa, Canada.

Jonathan at age 14
In the documentary, Jonathan was 14 years old. He is now 17.

Jonathan has epidermolysis bullosa which is very rare disease that makes his skin so brittle it blisters and tears.

Watching this documentary, in which Jonathan cries in pain over the removal of bandages, made us cry for him. He has suffered from pain his entire life.

He has a loving mother, Tina Boileau, who has been at his side, administering to his needs, all of his life.

Jonathan's back after the second stem cell treatment (left - before; right - after). Improving!
Jonathan has been at a hospital in Minnesota for several months where doctors there have come up with various medical treatments to try to help Jonathan including stem cell transplants which include blood and bone marrow issues.

Due to these treatments Jonathan has experienced complications with his lungs, kidneys and liver, leaving him weak and at times struggling to breathe on his own.

However, he is feeling better now and may soon be discharged from the hospital.

Jonathan maintains an optimistic attitude despite all of the suffering he has endured for years.

Hundreds of billions of dollars are spent yearly by governments and corporations and self-interest groups on war and greed and the battle for power. If this money was spent funding medical research, then diseases like this could possibly be cured.

The only real purpose of human life should be the alleviation of suffering and the health of our planet.

Let's all work toward providing peace and safety, health care, lodging, food, clean water and the necessities of life for everyone, world-wide.

Saint Bernadette of Lourdes, who said "I am ground
like a grain of wheat.", pray for Jonathan Pitre and for
all who are ground down by disease. Pray for his
recovery.

Pray, without ceasing, unto God, that Jonathan Pitre is cured of this disease. Amen.
