Scott Deem - Firefighter Fatality - San Antonio, Texas

Firefighter Scott Deem, age 31, died in the line of duty on May 18, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas.

Firefighter Deem was a member of the San Antonio Fire Department. He had six years of service. 

Around 9:00 p.m., a raging four alarm fire broke out in a strip mall in northwest San Antonio. At the height of the fire, 61 fire vehicles were on scene. At one point in the firefight, all firefighters were ordered to evacuate the area. Tragically, Scott was not able to make it out on his own. Rescue crews were unable to reach him in time and Scott died at the scene. 

Two other firefighters were also injured. 

Scott was a native of San Antonio and graduated from Southwest High School in 2004. He joined the Department on January 3, 2011.

Scott was a family man who was expecting his third child with his wife, Jennifer.

The members of the San Antonio Fire Department are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Scott was a professional who could be relied upon. He was well-respected and well-liked by his comrades. He died as a hero in the service of his City. Scott will be forever remembered.

Scott's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Scott is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his expectant wife, Jennifer and his two children.

Pray that Scott is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
