Colt Allery - Deputy Sheriff Fatality - North Dakota

Deputy Sheriff Colt Allery, age 29, died in the line of duty on January 18, 2017, on a roadway near Belcourt, North Dakota.

Deputy Allery was a member of the Rolette County Sheriff's Office, based in Rolla, North Dakota. He had 3 months of service with the Sheriff's Office. He had previously served with other agencies in North Dakota. He had a total of 3 years of service in law enforcement.

During the early evening of January 18, 2017, Sheriff's Deputies and a Rolla Police Officer responded to a call that a minivan had been stolen. The officers located the vehicle but the driver sped off and a car chase ensued. The vehicle was remotely monitored and the monitoring company was able to disable the minivan on a road near Belcourt.

As the officers approached the vehicle, the driver started shooting. He shot Deputy
Michael, Patron Saint of the
Police, pray for Colt and for
those who have lost him. 
Allery who, tragically, died of his wounds at the scene.

The shooter was also killed by law enforcement officers. 

The members of the Rolette County Sheriff's Office are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Colt is described by Sheriff's Office officials as full of spunk, cheerful and happy all the time. He will be forever remembered.

Colt's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Colt is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.
