Brandy Vela - a Victim of Bullying in Texas City, Texas

Brandy Vela, age 18, died on November 29, 2016, at her home in Texas City, Texas.

Texas City is located in Galveston County and has a population of just over 45,000. 

During the afternoon of that day, Brandy committed suicide by shooting herself in the chest. She died in front of her parents and grandparents. 

She had sent a text to members of her family just prior to her death, stating: “I love you so much just remember that please and I’m so sorry for everything.” 

Brandy was a senior at Texas City High School. She was the victim of bullying including online cyberbullying. She was told by others that she was fat and ugly. 

Bullies placed her photo on dating sites stating her cell phone number and saying she was looking for sex.

Brandy advised the Texas City School District of harassing messages being sent to her phone. The school district stated that the app being used was untraceable. She was advised to change her cell phone number.

~ Do not contribute to another's downfall. Tomorrow or five years from now, it could be you who is being humiliated and scorned.

Brandy's loved ones are devastated over her tragic and unnecessary death. She was a kind soul with a winning smile. Tragically, her spirit was crushed. She will be forever mourned.

Brandy is survived by many loving friends and family members including her parents, her grandparents and her siblings.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray for justice for Brandy.

God save us from those who take joy in tormenting others. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Brandy is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
