Paul Tuozzolo - Police Officer Fatality - New York City

Paul Tuozzolo

Sergeant Paul Tuozzolo, age 41, died in the line of duty on November 4, 2016, at a hospital in the Bronx, New York City.

Sergeant Tuozzolo was a member of the New York City Police Department. He was assigned to the 43rd Precinct. He had 19 years of service.

Before 3:00 p.m., a call came in that a man with a gun had broken into his estranged wife's home in the Bronx. The woman called 911 and the man fled in his vehicle.

Paul and other officers located the suspect's vehicle on a city street and attempted to box him in. As the officers exited their patrol cars, the male suspect opened fire.

Paul was struck in the head. Another officer was wounded in the leg. 

Paul was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.

Other officers at the scene returned fire and killed the shooter, Manuel Rosales, age 35. Manual Rosales had a lengthy criminal record and a history of violence.

Paul was raised in Bayville, New York and currently lived in Huntington. He is described as a family man who was there for his kids whom he adored.  

Friends stated that Paul loved fishing. It was one of his favorite pastimes.

The New York City Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Paul was a highly-respected professional who was calm and level-headed. Paul was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.

Paul's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Paul is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Lisa, and his two young sons.
