Another Tragedy in Baton Rouge - July 17, 2016

A terrible tragedy occurred on July 17, 2016, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  

Before 9:00 a.m., officers from several jurisdictions responded to a report that a man was walking on a roadway, carrying a rifle near a convenience store in Baton Rouge. 

Three responding officers were shot and killed.

Tragically deceased are:

Officer Matthew Gerald, age 41, of the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Corporal Montrell Jackson, age 32, of the Baton Rouge Police Department
Deputy Sheriff Brad Garafola, age 45, of the Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office

The shooter, Gavin Eugene Long, age 29, of Kansas City, Missouri, was shot and killed by the Police. He was a Marine Veteran who had served in Iraq. He had no known ties to any terrorist or extremist groups.

in mourning over the deaths of their brothers. They will be forever remembered.

The loved ones of Matthew, Montrell and Brad are devastated over their sudden and tragic deaths. They will be forever mourned.

Matthew, Montrell and Brad are survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss them.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye. 


Work toward the control and the restriction of firearms in America. Not every disturbed and unhappy male in America is walking around with a gun. But every psychopath is. 

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. Amen.

Pray that Matthew, Montrell and Brad are in Heaven. Pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
