Andrew Russell |
Lt. Russell was a member of the Harrison Township Fire Department. He had 20 years of service.
Harrison Township has a population of just over 26,000.
In January of 2016, Andrew had responded to a medical call. He slipped and fell on a patch of ice and badly injured his shoulder.
He underwent surgery to correct the injuries to his shoulder. Several days after the surgery Andrew began to feel ill. He may have developed a blood clot. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he passed away from complications related to the surgery.

Andrew graduated with an Associate Degree from Washtenaw Community College and then went through the Fire Institute and attained his Fireman/Paramedic License.
Andrew was a member of the Knights of Columbus and had served as a catechism teacher for many years.

Andrew's nickname was "Moose". He was a loving man who made others feel comfortable around him. He hugged others and was hugged in return.
The Harrison Township Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was a kind and humble man. He loved people. He will be forever remembered.
Andrew's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He loved his wife and children. He was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Andrew is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his father, Bernard; his brother Matthew; his wife, Clara; and children Eli, Adam and Erin. He was predeceased by his mother, Karen.
