Ricardo Galvez |
Downey has a population of around 110,000 residents. It is located 13 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Officer Galvez was a member of the Downey Police Department. He had 5 years of service.
Ricardo was known as Ricky to his family and friends.
At 11:00 p.m., Ricardo was readying to go off duty and was out of uniform. He was sitting inside his personal vehicle in the parking lot of the Downey Police Department. Two males approached his vehicle and opened fire fatally wounding the officer.
Tragically, he died at the scene.
Another officer who heard the shots pursued the men into the neighboring city of Montebello. The two men bailed out of their vehicle and fled on foot.
Two adult males and a juvenile male have been arrested in connection with this murder.
It is unknown at this time if this was a targetted ambush or a robbery gone wrong.
Michael, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Ricky and for those who have lost him. |
