Chris Castaneda |
Private Castaneda was a member of the 10th Mountain Division Light Infantry, the 3rd Battalion, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team. He was stationed at Fort Drum, New York.
The cause of Christopher's death has not been released as of this date. The Army has stated that he died as a result of a non-combat related incident.
Chris joined the Army in January of 2015. He completed basic and advanced training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He arrived at Fort Drum in May of 2015 and deployed to Iraq in August of 2015.
Christopher's awards include the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Achievement Medal.
Christopher's military comrades are in mourning over the death of their young
brother. He will be forever remembered.
