Kim Davis - County Clerk in Kentucky - is the reason for the separation of church and state

Kim Davis, age 49, is the county clerk for Rowan County, Kentucky.

Kim Davis
She is in jail for refusing to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples in her county.

Kim Davis states that her Christian beliefs do not allow her to sign any document that would allow a same-sex couple to get married.

Same-sex marriage has been legal in the U.S.A. since June 26, 2015. The United States Supreme Court has ruled that bans on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional.

James Yates, age 41, and William Smith Jr., age 33, applied to Rowan County 6 times for a marriage license in the summer of 2015 and were refused each time until Kim Davis was jailed.

On September 4, 2015, they received the license they need to get married.

Now, however, many opponents of same-sex marriage from all over the U.S.A. are rallying behind Kim Davis as if she is some sort of figurehead for religious freedom.

She isn't. There is a reason for the separation of church and state and that reason is that "persons of faith" cannot be trusted to extend human and civil rights to those outside of their own group. It's that simple.

The world is larger than Kentucky and there are many religions in the world.  Not everyone belongs to Kim's Apostolic Church nor is everyone a Catholic nor is everyone a Christian.

There are millions of people out there who are true to their own faith and who would force you to comply to their way of thinking regardless of the rule of law and regardless of the consequences. Kim is one of those people.

People lose all logic and sensibility when God is involved because it has to be "my version of God" and my beliefs and not your version of God and your beliefs.

Saint Jude, pray for
justice and for equality
in this world. God
help us all.
Kim Davis has been married four times - twice to the same man. She obviously likes being married but wants to deny this life option to others.

Kim Davis should be released from jail.

She should then resign immediately from her position as County Clerk because she cannot fulfill her obligations as a county employee without interjecting her own beliefs into the issues facing her jurisdiction.

After Kim Davis resigns let's get with the 21st century and go on to more pressing issues that are facing our planet including our ongoing and constant wars, terrorism, climate change, pollution, over-population, rampant hunger, medical care and clean water for all.

God save us from those who put their personal beliefs before all others. Amen.
