Ivan Sandoval - a 6 year old killed by alleged impaired drivers in Santa Ana, California

Ivan Sandoval, age 6, died on August 3, 2015, at at hospital in Orange County, California.
Ivan Sandoval

Ivan was in a BMW vehicle being driven by his uncle. At about 12:45 p.m. their vehicle approached a city intersection.

Their vehicle was T-boned and Ivan took most of the impact.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital and underwent emergency surgery.  Tragically, Ivan died of his injuries on the operating table.

The BMW that Ivan was in failed to yield the right of way to a Nissan at the intersection.

The BMW was being driven by David Wayne Cote, age 54, who is suspected of driving under the influence of a narcotic.  He has numerous felony convictions for the possession of drugs.

The Nissan was being driven by Armando Duran, age 35, who is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.  He has a prior DUI charge.

David Wayne Cote and Armando Duran are innocent unless proven guilty.

However we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are wasted, drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

It has been reported that David Cote is the legal guardian of Ivan Sandoval but this is unconfirmed.

Ivan played T-ball and was a member of the South Angels Team.
Pray for Ivan and for those who have
lost him.

Family members describe Ivan as a little angel and a loving boy. He would have turned 7 on August 9, 2015.

Oceans of tears will be shed for this boy.

Ivan's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Ivan is survived by many loving friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray for Ivan's loved ones who have suffered an unspeakable loss.

Ivan is playing in the fields of Heaven.
