Ryan Burris - American Sailor died in Abu Dhabi

Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Burris, age 24, died on May 21, 2015, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Ryan died in a non-combat related incident at Zayed Military City during his first overseas deployment. He was part of American operations to defeat terrorists connected to ISIS (Islamic State).

The details of his death have not been released by the military as of this posting.

He was temporarily assigned to the Crisis Response Element of Joint Special Operations Task Force - Arabian Peninsula, Special Operations Command Central and U.S. Central Command.

Ryan graduated from Lisle High School in Lisle, Illinois, in 2009. In High School he was into football, wrestling and track and field. He also participated in War of Independence re-enactment groups.

He joined the Navy in March of 2012. He trained at the Great Lakes Naval Station in Lake County and was stationed in San Diego before leaving for his first deployment.

Many men in Ryan's family have served in the military. Ryan was determined to follow the family tradition.

was well respected by his peers. He will be forever remembered.

Ryan's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a typical all-American guy. He was happy to serve in the military. He had a sense of humor. He liked to make people laugh. He reached out to others. He put others first. His family are extremely proud of him. Oceans of tears will be shed for this man. He will be forever mourned.

Ryan is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother and father and two sisters.

Thank you for your service to your country, Ryan.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.


Pray that Ryan is in Heaven.  Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
