Chris Blankenship - Firefighter Fatality - Tennessee

Firefighter Christopher Blankenship, age 41, died in the line of duty on May 3, 2015, at a hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Chris Blankenship

Firefighter Blankenship was a volunteer member of the Madison County Fire Department. He had 10 years of service. He worked out of Station No. 2.

At about 1:30 a.m. on May 3, 2015, Chris responded to a motor vehicle accident and subsequent fire. Somehow the fire caused a nearby tree to break and a portion of it fell on Chris, trapping him underneath.

His comrades were able to free him and administer first aid.  Chris was rushed to a local hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries.

A benefit fund for the family has been established at the following locations:

The Madison County Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He was a quiet man with a pleasant demeanor.  He could always be relied upon. He helped others his entire life.  He volunteered for various training sessions and had recently been certified in emergency medical training. He will be forever remembered.

Chris' loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He loved his wife and kids and was proud of them. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Chris is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Ashley; and their two children, Baily and Chase.

Thank you for your service to the community, Chris.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Chris is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
