Andrew Doiron - A Canadian soldier died in Iraq

Canadian Sgt. Andrew Joseph Doiron, age 31, died in the line of duty on March 6, 2015, in Iraq.

Sgt. Doiron was with the Canadian Special Operations Regiment based in Petawawa, Ontario.

Members of Andrew's unit were mistakenly shot at by Iraqi Kurdish soldiers who mistook them for ISIS militants. 

Four Canadian soldiers were wounded. Tragically Andrew succumbed to his injuries. The other wounded soldiers are expected to survive. 

Andrew Doiron is the first Canadian soldier killed during this current mission to Iraq.

Andrew's military comrades are in mourning over his death. They describe him as a professional soldier who got along with everyone. He died in the service of his country. He will be forever remembered.

Andrew is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Andrew is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
