Justin Holt - U.S. soldier killed in a training accident

Justin Holt 
Staff Sergeant Justin Holt, age 31, of Bogata, Texas, died in the line of duty on February 6, 2015, at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Staff Sgt. Holt was assigned to the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

At about 9:30 p.m., Justin and a number of other soldiers were working on battlefield reconnaissance skills on a training range. Somehow their Stryker combat vehicle overturned. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Tragically, Justin died of the injuries he sustained. 


Six other soldiers were injured but survived.

Justin graduated from high school in 2002. He entered the Army on April 13, 2004. He arrived at Fort Carson on June 1, 2011.

He had deployed three times to the Middle East including two tours of duty in Iraq.
Light a candle for Justin. Light his way to Heaven.


Justin was awarded the Army Commendation Medal five times and had earned the service's Combat Action Badge for fighting in Iraq. He earned the Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service three times.

Justin's military comrades are in mourning over the death of their brother. He will be forever remembered.

Justin's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Justin is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members.

Thank you for your service to your country, Justin.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Justin is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
