Casey Chapman - U.S. Military fatality

Spc. Casey Chapman, age 20, of Chelsea, Maine, died on February 4, 2015, at Fort Hood, Texas.

Casey was found unresponsive in a vehicle in a training area at the base.  

The cause of his death is under investigation. 

Casey graduated from Hall-Dale High School in Farmingdale, Maine. He graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.  In January of 2013 he entered active service as an artillery mechanic. Since September of 2014 he had been assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.

Casey's awards and decorations include four Army Achievement Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Medal.

His military comrades are in mourning over the death of their young brother. He will be forever remembered.

Casey's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He is described as happy and strong and a caring young man. He had a sense of humor, had a smile that could light up a room and liked to joke and goof around.  He would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. 

His family are extremely proud of him and of his service to America.  He is their hero.  His sister, Carly, stated that Casey was her best friend. 

He will be forever loved and forever mourned.

Casey is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his parents, Adelaide and Cory Chapman; and his sister, Carly.

Thank you for your service, Casey. 

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for all who die young.  They barely had a chance to live.

Pray that Casey is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
