Michael Starrett - Law Enforcement - Tennessee

Detective Michael Starrett, age 54, died in the line of duty on January 30, 2015, at a hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Detective Starrett was a member of the Jacksboro Police Department. He had 16 years of service.

He was known as Mike to his family and friends.

Jacksboro is a town in Campbell County with a population of just over 2,000.

On January 23, 2015, Mike was responding to a horrible highway accident in which a father and his 6 year son had been killed. On his way to the scene, Mike's patrol car was struck head-on by a pick-up truck which failed to yield. Mike sustained severe injuries all over his body.

Mike was rushed to a hospital in Knoxville where he underwent several emergency surgeries. Tragically, he passed away 7 days later.

Friends describe Mike as a wonderful man and a great officer. He was helpful to

others and always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The local community completed a number of blood drives in Mike's honor. A trust fund has been set up in Detective Starrett’s name at the First Volunteer Bank in Jacksboro, Tennessee.

The Jacsboro Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He will be forever remembered.

Mike's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Mike is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Jerri.

Pray that Mike is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
