John Stevens - Law Enforcement - New Jersey

John Stevens
Detective John Stevens, age 44, of Forked River, New Jersey, died in the line of duty, on January 21, 2015, at a hospital in Neptune, New Jersey.

Detective Stevens was a member of the Ocean City Prosecutor's Office. He had 15 years of service with the Office and 5 years of service with the New Jersey State Attorney's Office. 


John was a member of the Special Operations Group, which handles narcotics investigations in the county. John also investigated financial crime and white-collar crime.

On January 8, 2015, John had been working on an undercover assignment. His vehicle crossed over the center line and struck a tree, fatally injuring him.

John was rushed to a local medical center where he remained until he tragically succumbed to his injuries on January 21st. 


The Ocean City Prosecutor's Office is in mourning over the death of their brother. John is described as a skilled investigator with numerous commendations.  He was a

hard worker who was detail oriented and goal oriented. He was determined, focused and professional. He will be forever remembered.

John's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death.  He was a family man who loved to spend time with his parents, his wife and his son.  He will be forever mourned.

John is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his parents, his wife and his 10 year old son.
