Mike Naylor - Law Enforcement - Texas

Deputy Sheriff Mike Naylor died in the line of duty on October 9, 2014, at a hospital in Midland, Texas. 

Mike was a member of the Midland County Sheriff's Office. He had over ten years of service. 

Mike and several other deputies were serving an arrest warrant on a sexual predator in Midland. During the warrant service the Deputies came under fire and Mike was shot in the head. 

He was rushed to a local hospital where tragically he passed away from his injuries. 

Dan William Higgins, age 37, was arrested after a standoff.  He had been previously arrested on August 1, 2014, for aggravated sexual assault and had been released on a $5,000 bond.  He will be charged with capital murder.

Mike worked his way up from a jailer to a sergeant.  He had served in numerous positions in the department.  In recent years he served as a senior officer in the Mental Health Unit.

He was awarded honors in 2009 for his services in the Civil Warrants Division.  He also currently served as the Department's Honor Guard commander. 

The Midland County Sheriff's Office is in mourning over the tragic death of their brother. Mike is described as kind, capable and responsible.
He will be forever remembered. 

Mike's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Mike is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Mike is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
