Randy White and Mike Smith - Good Samaritans in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada

On September 7, 2014, a Jaguar vehicle being driven along a highway near Richmond, B.C., Canada, crashed and somehow flipped into the adjacent Fraser River.

Mike Smith (L); Randy White (R)
Randy White lives in the area and saw the crash and rushed to the riverside.

Two men were trapped inside the vehicle.

Randy White entered the water, chest deep, which has a very swift current.

Randy said that he can't swim very well so it was a struggle. He had trouble getting the doors open.

A neighbor, Mike Smith, was riding by on his bicycle and entered the water as well.
The Good Samaritan reaches
out to others in distress
Mike is a strong swimmer and does scuba diving so he felt less intimidated by the rushing river.

Mike was able to pull the passenger out of the car and started CPR. That man started to breathe.

Both the driver of the Jaguar and the passenger were rushed to a local hospital, where sadly the driver passed away.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Pray for the man who died and for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God bless Randy White and Mike Smith. They are Good Samaritans. Amen.

God bless all who step up and who come to the aid of strangers in distress.

They are the true heroes of the modern era.
