Renea Lau - raped and murdered in Melbourne, Australia

Renea Lau
Renea Lau, age 32, died on June 28, 2014, in Melbourne, Australia.

Her formal Chinese name is Yuk Ling Lau. She was originally from Hong Kong.

In the early morning hours of June 28, 2014, she was walking on her way to an early morning shift at work when she was attacked, raped and murdered in King's Domain which is a parkland area in Melbourne. She had worked as a pastry worker at a chocolate shop since May of 2012.

Friends describe Renea as a beautiful and lovely woman with a beautiful smile.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Scott Miller
Her co-workers are shocked and grieved by her passing.  She will be forever remembered.

Renea was a devout Baptist who is remembered by church members as being strong in her faith, friendly and smiling.

Citizens in Melbourne are concerned over the crime rate and the fact that women (and men) are not safe walking the streets in the dark.

Scott Allen Miller, age 42, has been charged with rape and murder in connection with this tragedy. He was apprehended at a coastal town, 500 kilometers from Melbourne.

It is reported that Miller was born in California, U.S.A. and had been living as a homeless man on the streets of Melbourne for over two months.  He had previously been diagnosed with drug induced psychosis.  In the 1990's, before his drug addictions overpowered his life, he had managed a nightclub.  In recent months he had been living in Darwin in a shack, making didgeridoos (an Australian Aboriginal musical instrument). Salvation Army staff describe him as a loner who refused requests to help provide him with accommodation.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
Light a candle for Renea.
Light her way to Heaven.

It is a sad fact of life everywhere that women and men cannot walk the streets in the dark and expect to be safe from attack from thieves, rapists and drunk or drugged up wingnuts. If you have to go to work at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning, and you don't have a vehicle, don't walk. Try to make arrangements with co-workers for a car pool ride to work or ask your employer to share half the cost of a taxi ride or simply pay for a taxi yourself and chalk the cost up to the expense of working. Walking on city streets in the dead of night is no longer an option in any city.

Renea's family are devastated over her tragic and senseless death. She will be forever mourned.

Renea is survived by many loving friends and family members.

Pray for justice for Renea.

God save us from the Lost Ones who stalk the Earth stealing away life. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Renea is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
