Kyla Ryng - a victim of domestic murder in Bristol, Connecticut

Kyla and Alexander, in
happier times
Kyla Ryng, age 27, died on June 4, 2014, at her home in Bristol, Connecticut.

Just before 7:00 a.m., Kyla was shot and killed by her husband, Alexander Ryng, age 26.  Alexander then shot himself to death.

The couple's three children - 4 years old, 3 years old and 20 months old, were in the house at the time of the murder-suicide. Two of the kids ran to the house next door which is the home of their grandmother to tell her that something bad had happened.

Kyla and Alexander had been married for 6 years. Kyla was a stay at home wife and mother.

On May 30, 2014, Kyla had filed for divorce stating that their marriage had broken down irretrievably. She asked to receive alimony and child support and for their property and debts to be split. She wanted the couple to have joint custody of the children but asked for them to live primarily with her.

Alexander was a first lieutenant and a platoon leader for an engineering unit with the Connecticut Army National Guard. He had temporarily been working at the Stones Ranch Military Reservation in East Lyme, Connecticut.

The family had no previous record of calls to the Police until
Mary, pray for Kyla and
for those who have
lost her
recently. Kyla's family members stated that Alexander had a recent history with law enforcement and with medical officials. The National Guard was involved, a psychotherapist was involved and wellness checks by the police were involved.

In the days before her death, a brother of Alexander Ryng had reportedly grabbed Kyla's arm and accused her of cheating on her husband.

This entire incident is tragic in so many ways. A young woman and a young man lost their lives.  A young man committed murder. Three children saw the bloody bodies of their dead parents and are now orphans.

If you are experiencing a relationship breakdown and feel that you are getting out of control because of it:
  • Speak to a friend or a family member who you know is calm and who will not exacerbate the situation.
  • Speak to a priest, a pastor or someone you trust.
  • Go to the local hospital's emergency room and say that you are losing it and that you need help. You may need strong prescription drugs to calm you down.
  • Turn yourself in to the local Police, saying that you feel violently out of control and that you don't trust your own actions.
  • Do anything you can to prevent yourself from murdering the person you once loved.
Kyla's family are devastated over her tragic and senseless death. She will be forever mourned.

Kyla is survived by many loving friends and family members including her mother, Michele Brasley; and her three small children.

God save us from the Lost Ones who once said they loved us and then kill us.

Pray that Kyla is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
